Back To The Future

Our desire is that Disciple Daily become a network of individuals and smaller ministry organizations working together to foster the relationally driven disciple making practices that are revealed in the New Testament. So, what does disciple making in the Bible look like? Within the context of personally supportive and accountable relationships, disciples of Messiah Jesus do four things:

They consume God’s Word
They adopt Yeshua’s interpretation of Scripture
They imitate Jesus’ relational ministry model
They multiply Messiah’s life in the lives of others

It was almost 200 years after the birth of the Church before the first building called a “church” was constructed. Yet, those years produced the most radical growth of the body of Messiah. It cannot be argued that God has used the local expression of the Church to the advancement of His glory over the last 2,000 years.

It is also undeniable that along the way some of the important foundations that contributed to the initial expansion of the Church became obscured. Today, the Church is largely fragmented. It is comprised of franchises that are forced to pursue organizational interests and initiatives. Organizations generally have large economic commitments and responsibilities. One of these is the management and maintenance of physical assets and employees. These things over time can cripple the effectiveness of a once vibrant group of believers laboring together in Christ. Undoubtedly, you have seen this happen and it is cause for concern.

The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast.

It is for this reason that I am praying that God will create something different through His work in us. Disciple Daily is a network, not an organization. We are just a small part of the greater Body of Messiah, also known as the Church. Developing an environment where the disciplines of Jesus’ first followers can be studied and put into practice has been the focus of our attention since February 2011. There have been some stops and starts along the way, but steady progress has been made.

An example of the benefit of operating as a network is this website. When Disciple Daily was founded, Jeff Troup helped me build the first website we operated off of. A couple of years later, he built an new one utilizing WordPress. The Lord took Jeff home several years ago and I have not had a web partner since. Then I met Ally. Alyson Dresner is a very gifted web developer and marketer. She served as the head of Chosen People Ministries IT Department for eight years. Sensing God’s movement towards a change in her work, Ally is now out on her own serving the Lord as she helps people like Disciple Daily gain better traction through their websites.

This new website is a major advancement. It is an example of the benefit of like-minded Jesus followers collaborating together in a kingdom oriented network. Over the next couple of months more improvements will be made to this site. This is your invitation to do a little exploring. Maybe you will discover that the Disciple Daily Network could be useful in the tool-chest of your own disciple making ministry.

I want to thank all the people who have so faithfully supported Disciple Daily since our founding. You know who you are. More importantly, so does the Lord!
