This posting was written over the last couple of days, prior to the horrific terror attacks in France and the attempted military coup in Turkey. As I watched the various reports on these events and observed the reactions on FaceBook, it was apparent how timely the thoughts recorded here are. All of this is further evidence of an enemy who is hiding in plain sight. He is attacking the home, community, workplace, government, and the Church. That enemy is Satan.
For many years, France has opened its borders to Muslim immigration from the Middle East. This open-door policy has created a situation very similar to what is discussed in the article below.
Islam is not a religion of peace. It is a demonically inspired, violence driven religious ideology. Progressive and liberal efforts to paint Islam as anything other than this is an attempt to obscure the facts, facts that are validated with each jihad driven death. Muslim accommodation has spread throughout Europe to the United States. Islam’s adherents awhether they are identified as moderate or extreme, are enemies of God. They are the agents of Satan, hiding in plain sight.
I do not hate Muslims. It is my prayer that the Church will redouble its efforts to lovingly disciple the Muslims in their sphere of influence to repentance, a change of personal belief concerning the identity and work of Messiah Jesus. Muslim Background Believers (MBB) must take the battle for the hearts an minds of those who continue to be deceived to them. They will be the ones best equipped to proclaim the Kingdom of God to the soldiers of Mohammed.
Satan has succeeded in sidelining the vast majority of those of us who profess ourselves as “Christian”. The truth of our convictions concerning Jesus must once again become part of the public discourse in these tumultuous times. Like all of us who are believers in Jesus, MBBs must stop hiding in plain sight behind the walls of our churches to publicly stand firm for biblical truth and values.

Trans-Dniestra: Hiding In Plain Sight
“There is a Russian tank in the middle of the road.” Nick, Uliana, and I were enroute back to Chisinau from a camp when Nick made this startling statement. I looked where he was pointing. There it was, covered in camouflage netting, hidden in plain sight. I asked, “What is it doing there? Moldova doesn’t have a border with Russia, does it?
My Moldovan hosts told me how the inhabitants of the small sliver of land between the Dniester River and the Ukraninian border had proclaimed independence from Moldova in 1990. Today, Trans-Dniester is an outpost of Russian influence in the middle of one of the most fertile and productive agricultural areas of Moldova. It is a veritable garden area.
During the dying days of the Soviet Union, the people of this area became alarmed by the rising nationalism of Moldova, once a part of Romania situated to the west. They became fearful of a potential reunification of the two countries. The international community does not recognize the self-declared state of Trans-Dniester. Refusal to recognize what is happening there does not change the facts on the ground.
In 1991, paramilitary forces loyal to Russia seized control over public institutions and the many factories in the area. Intense fighting broke out. By the time a cease-fire was declared, over 700 people had died. Many weapons from the Soviet Union era remain in place, including the tank I was shown. Russia, under the leadership of an increasingly expansionist Vladimir Putin, provides the breakaway pseudo-state with financial assistance to maintain the status-quo. It is another heavy Russian footprint in this already destabilized part of Eastern Europe.
Does all of this sound familiar? It should. Russia has clearly broadcast its intention of reclaiming all of the territory the old Soviet Union once controlled. This should not surprise the rest of the world. But strangely it does. This is because most of humanity refuses to recognize and label the evil expanding out of Mother Russia. Refusal to identify the enemy, to give it a name, is increasingly the way we deal with evil right here in the United States.
Nothing has changed. It has been this way from the very beginning. There has always been an enemy in our midst, hidden in plain sight, ready to destroy what God creates. Before the foundations of the world were laid, God made many angels to worship and glorify Him. Read Ezekiel 28:11-19, Job 38:4-7. Because of an angelic rebellion, the disgraced angel we know today as Satan was cast from God’s presence along with one third of the heavenly host. See Revelation 12:3-9. Where did they go?
Unknown to Adam and Eve, the angelic usurper was in the Garden of Eden. Camouflaged as a serpent. He has sowed the seeds of idolatry. “Did God say?” This was Satan’s question. “You will be like God.” That was his lie.
No one is like God. He will not share His position or His glory with anyone. Not Satan, not Adam and Eve, not you, not me.Not anyone!
… and every other societal ill
These are merely the symptoms of believing Satan’s lie. Mankind, including most of those who identify themselves as Christians, refuse to acknowledge this fact. Evil is hidden in plain sight. Just like Satan in the Garden of Eden. Just like the tares among the wheat in the Body of Messiah. Just like the Russian tank in the middle of the road. Satan continues still poses the question, “Indeed, has God said?” As a result of his seductive inducement, humanity questions what should be painfully clear. God has said much!
The Church needs to return to the disciplined and systematic teaching of the Bible, the very words of God Himself. Not only that, every believer in Jesus needs to proactively engage in God’s clear directive… “Go, make disciples of all nations.” Believers in Jesus need to do more than just identify themselves as Christians. They must prove themselves to be His followers. How is that done? It is through the way we love one another in spite of our many differences (John 13:35), by becoming truly united in acting upon that which God has already so clearly said. The Body of Messiah must return to the disciple making roots of the personal study, practice, and teaching of God’s Word everywhere He gives opportunity.
Making disciples will not happen without a plan. If you have one, that’s great. If you don’t have a plan, prayerfully consider joining the movement Disciple Daily is a part of. We are working with believers around the world to teach others to tell the story of God’s glory, one story at a time… from the very beginning. It is only when we know what truth looks like from God’s grand story that we will be able to identify the enemy in our midst.
This is a war. It is time for the Church to remove Satan’s camouflage and reveal his presence by making disciple making disciples all the time, every day, and everywhere. Satan has been hiding in plain sight for way too long.
