From far away places and some not so distant, we gathered in Atlanta for InstructorFest 2015. I have been blessed to be included in this biannual gathering of Walk Thru the Bible’s most active Live Event instructors. This was my second InstructorFest. It was incredible! I want to thank all of the people who worked so hard to make this one of the most memorable events of my life. I think what we all tasted is a foreshadow of things yet to come. It was an appetizer for the Wedding Feast of the Lamb.
Walk Thru the Bible was founded in 1976 by Bruce Wilkinson. As part of his doctoral program at Dallas Theological Seminary, Dr. Wilkinson recognized a pressing need for all followers of Jesus Christ. Every believer must to be able to read the Bible on their own, understand it, engage with God through their own time with Him in His Word, and live what it teaches as His witnesses everywhere.
Using Walk Thru the Bible’s innovative and participatory teaching methodology, WTTB instructors have trained believers in Jesus, who are living in over 90 countries, how to remember the storyline of Scripture and live God’s Word.
It is undeniable that there are many divisions within the Body of Messiah, the Church. Undoubtedly, this causes sorrow to our Groom and Savior who gave Himself for the Church. There are some who choose to simply ignore those divisions, hoping that it will promote unity in the Body and love for the world. Sadly, it does not! In fact, our inability to really act as one is a primary reason many unbelievers refuse to even engage with us in conversation. It is also one of the primary factors contributing to many young people leaving the Church in droves.
For the last two-thousand years, Jesus has been at His Father’s side, awaiting the day that He will come claim His Bride, to bring her back to be with Him forever. He has been at work preparing a place for us. But what of us, His Bride? How are our preparations for that rapidly approaching day coming along? Every bride-to-be dreams about the day she will be united with her beloved. The dress that she wears must be perfect, spotless. Making sure that dress is spotless is the job of every single person who wears the name of our Messiah. That is why the Bride of Messiah must examine itself according to the microscope of God’s Word, the Bible. Unity at the expense of biblical truth is a stain on us all.
I am convinced that biblical poverty is the single most critical issue facing the Church today. Christendom has been taken captive by the demonic notion that those who call themselves “Christian” can please God without opening the Bible and getting to know Him personally. From the United States, local congregations have sent millions of missionaries backed by billions of dollars around the world. Without doubt, some have come to faith and now experience new life in Messiah Jesus because of the missionaries God has raised up in our country. Praise God! He works even through our inadequacies. Nonetheless, believers here in America must also come to grips with the fact that we have exported our own biblical poverty to people in great need around the world. We have held evangelistic campaigns, run teaching and training conferences, and held vacation Bible schools in the remotest places on earth. Many have made first time professions of faith. But what have they believed in? The God of the Bible or the many gods of Christendom?
Millions of Bibles sit on bookshelves right here in the United States. God Himself resides inside the covers of those Bibles, waiting for us to come to Him on a daily basis. But where do we go? To cracked and empty cisterns (Jeremiah 2:13)! It seems as if the Church would rather submit to the biblically impoverished babbling of contemporary “Christian” personalities than to Jesus Christ.
Yet still He calls
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. – Matthew 11:28-30.
At Walk Thru the Bible, the objective that drives every Live Event instructor is the equipping of believers in every nation to systematically read the Bible and experience first hand the sweetness of sharing a new life found only in a personal relationship with the God of the Bible.
At Disciple Daily, we believe so strongly in the Walk Thru the Bible process that it is the first thing our network members are trained to use in their own disciple making ministries. By learning the innovative hand signs and key words, they quickly learn how to use one of the most important tools a disciple maker can have in their disciple making tool chest. They learn to share the comprehensive story of God from Genesis through Revelation, a story in which every member of the Bride of Messiah plays an important role.
Let’s make sure our wedding dress is spotless. Our Groom is coming soon!
It makes no difference where you are. If you would like to discover how to use Walk Thru the Bible’s innovative and engaging Bible training process to eliminate the biblical poverty of your own life and the lives of those you know, please explore what the Disciple Daily Network has to offer.
